About the role
Personal Care Assistant EXED at Cambridge Elementary School (2000 Cambridge Drive, Cocoa) supporting students with disabilities. Position is for the 2027 FY, 9‑month contract, 6.5 hours per day. Application deadline: 10/01/2026; position available 10/01/2026.
Responsibilities
- Assist students with disabilities with classroom activities, modifications, transportation, and personal care needs as directed by the teacher.
- Work one‑on‑one with assigned student(s); may need to move with student(s) if the school site changes.
- Perform heavy work: exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent or special diploma.
- Experience working with children.
- Experience working with persons with disabilities.
- Strong desire to work one‑on‑one with a student.
- Valid Florida Driver License.
Skills
- Ability to work effectively with children and teachers.
- Willingness to learn the unique educational and/or personal needs to assist a student with a disability.
Pay
Starting salary: $15.95 per hour (Grade 16 of the classified employees pay plan).
Schedule
6.5 hours per day, 9‑month contract.
