About the role
Provide assistance to residents in an Assisted Living Community with activities of daily living as needed according to individual and physician-directed Care Plan. Duties include toileting, ambulation, eating, transferring, bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, and more.
Responsibilities
- Ensure residents are dressed appropriately when in living areas or outside the building.
- Teach residents self-help skills to maximize independence and freedom of movement.
- Perform personal care tasks based on training criteria.
- Provide personal assistance as needed, requested, or required.
- Respond to hand bell or other signaling calls.
- Assist with transportation when indicated by the ED/Administrator.
- Assist the Activities Coordinator in planned activities.
- Help residents keep clothes in proper order.
- Make beds when needed or as directed.
- Provide residents with a clean towel and washcloth as needed.
- Assist with using, emptying, and cleaning resident equipment as needed.
- Assure residents receive their snacks and assist at mealtime as needed.
- Notify ED/Administrator, RCC or SIC of medical needs or changes in resident status.
- Apply restraint procedures as ordered by physicians.
- Report accidents or incidents to appropriate personnel.
- Help maintain residents' self-respect, personal dignity, and physical safety.
- Work cooperatively with other staff and relate favorably to residents, their families, and visitors.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
- Adhere to adult care home's accident, fire safety, OSHA, and emergency procedures.
- Affirm residents' rights under the Adult Care Home Residents' Bill of Rights.
- Maintain equipment and supplies carefully.
- Document accurately and detail resident services, including progress notes, incidents, changes in condition, appearance, and behavior.
- Participate in required continuing education.
Requirements
- Must have or obtain C.N.A or Personal Care Aide Certificate (80-Hour) with Personal Care Aide Training within 6-Months of hire.
- Must be able to read, write, understand, and follow directions.
- Must possess good written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and reach overhead as needed.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must not have substantiated findings on the NC Personnel Registry or Health Care Program.
- Must have a clear SBI record.
- Must have a two-step tuberculin skin test (first test prior to hire and second test within two weeks of first test).
