About the role
Performs a broad variety of customer service and sales activities that promote long-term customer relationships. Assists customers with account problems and questions, including initiating and servicing deposit accounts and related services. Strengthens customer relationships through follow-up calls, customer profiling, and review of customer needs. Serves as a consumer lender trainee in processing loan requests per the bank’s policy and guidelines, with lending authority granted based on demonstrated ability and experience.
Responsibilities
- Assists customers in making product and service choices that best meet their needs, including account opening and closing for individual and commercial accounts.
- Proactively explores customer needs and makes appropriate recommendations of available products and services.
- Performs customer service duties such as answering phone and in-person inquiries, conducting customer research, processing approved refunds, placing check orders, assisting with safe deposit access, and processing deposit verifications.
- Conducts customer profiling at the time of relationship establishment to ensure effective product suggestions and follow-up activities.
- Provides interest rate quotes to customers per the bank’s established rate sheet.
- Accepts loan applications and conducts initial credit verifications and underwriting for Demand Deposit and other Consumer Loans, including ordering credit reports and providing loan payoff quotations.
- Requests and reviews loan documentation related to the initiation and/or modification of DDL, Consumer, and Fresh Start Loan accounts.
- Initiates and processes incoming/outgoing wires, obtaining all necessary approvals.
- Performs other duties/projects as assigned by supervisor.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance, with the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends if the branch is open.
Requirements
- Full knowledge of personal and business banking products, with initiative to stay updated on changes.
- Basic knowledge of banking regulations applicable to the job function and bank policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of general banking principles and willingness to participate in educational opportunities.
- Skill in communicating courteously and professionally with clients and co-workers.
- Skill in operating computer terminals, printers, back counter capture machines, coin machines, and copiers.
- Effective listening skills and ability to make appropriate referrals.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Ability to provide leadership and guidance in customer service, cash and check handling, and customer referrals.
- Ability to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and customer service in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to function as a team player.
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- A minimum of 24 months of prior banking experience is generally expected.

Pay
Hourly $24 - $27
Schedule
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with rotating Saturdays 9:00 AM–12:00 PM.
