The ideal candidate will be passionate about empowering customers to meet their financial goals and have a thorough understanding of the customer’s transaction requirements. Excellent communication is a critical trait necessary to educate customers and refer appropriate products and services matching their needs.
This position is the “Customer Ambassador” for the bank, providing exceptional service primarily through face-to-face interactions. A Personal Banker I will open deposit accounts and complete regular transactions, such as receiving and paying out money, while keeping accurate records of financial transactions.
Responsibilities
- Educate customers about the bank’s sales and service delivery options and refer appropriate products and services to match their needs.
- Effectively refer customers to the appropriate source or channel to address their needs.
- Prepare and compile new customer account information to open deposit accounts, including signature cards, new account sheets, check orders, direct deposit, and automatic bill pay.
- Handle all deposit products, including Certificate of Deposit opening, closing, deposits, partial withdrawals, IRA opening, distributions, and contributions.
- Refer and schedule appointments with Home Loan Originators and educate customers on various home loan products.
- Provide ongoing relationship servicing by informing and advising customers of account status or enhancements, resolving disputes, and suggesting additional products or services.
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries, resolve difficult transactions, and promote cross-selling of bank products and services, including FM Investments.
- Generate new business to meet profitability and production goals set by retail leadership.
- Answer telephone calls, take messages, provide information, and direct calls to appropriate staff.
- Greet bank visitors, provide information, and direct them to appropriate staff.
- Track, record, report, and store transactional information and special requests.
- Provide a high level of customer service with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
- Comply with bank policy and regulatory requirements, including passing compliance tests.
- May also fulfill responsibilities outlined in the Teller Job Description.
- Identify customer needs, provide information on new products and services, and refer customers to branch representatives.
- Meet and exceed partner referrals and sales production goals.
- Open requested accounts in adherence to bank guidelines.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- 2-4 years of retail banking experience preferred.
- Basic math and computer skills.
- Working knowledge of banking/financial products and services.
- Cash-handling experience.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and time-management skills.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Strong dedication to accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Personal Banker Certificate (preferred).
- Notary Public Commission (preferred).
Compliance
This role includes accountabilities for following bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements involving federal and state laws, such as:
- Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), including accurate completion of Currency Transaction Reports (CTR) when applicable.
- Anti-Money Laundering Act (AML).
- Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) and the USA PATRIOT Act.
- Customer Identification and Customer Due Diligence, including reporting suspicious activities to the BSA Department.
Schedule
This position is scheduled to work Monday – Saturday, generally with a day off. Occasional extended hours may be required to accommodate business flow. On occasion, an employee may be asked to report to another location to fulfill staffing needs.
Non-exempt/Hourly position.
