Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary point of contact for public inquiries; answer and route phone calls, respond to citizen questions, and record complaints through intake forms.
- Prepare order letters, compliance correspondence, memoranda, and other departmental documents as assigned.
- Process a variety of licenses and permits, including camps, swimming pools, keeping of animals, food service, and others, using the department’s permitting system.
- Process permits, invoices, and receipts for weights and measures. Track permit and license payments; issue invoices and delinquent notices.
- Perform general clerical tasks such as word processing, copying, filing, data entry, mail distribution, and front-desk support.
- Perform similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
Recommended Minimum Qualifications
- A high school diploma; an Associate’s degree or business training, plus at least two years of related office experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- A solid understanding of general office practices and computer applications, along with the ability to quickly learn municipal public health department procedures.
- Comfortable communicating with the public by phone, able to organize their time efficiently, and capable of completing tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong written and oral communication skills are essential, as well as proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing, and specialized software.
- Reliable organizational skills, careful attention to detail, and the flexibility to handle a variety of office tasks effectively.
Pay & Benefits
