About the role
SAFEbuilt is seeking a dedicated and experienced Building Official to oversee all aspects of building department services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction codes, zoning regulations, and building inspections.
Responsibilities
- Review and approve building plans according to local building codes and regulations
- Conduct inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance with building codes and safety standards
- Enforce zoning laws and regulations to ensure compliance with local land use policies
- Provide technical guidance and support to permit applicants and contractors
- Respond to complaints and inquiries related to building code violations
- Keep abreast of changes in building codes and regulations and implement updates as necessary
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in building inspection and code enforcement
- Knowledge of local building codes and zoning regulations
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Qualifications
While not required, candidates with experience in fire prevention and emergency response are encouraged to apply.

Pay
$80,000 - $90,000 annually
