Permit Technician

About the role

SAFEbuilt is seeking a dedicated and experienced Building Official to oversee all aspects of building department services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction codes, zoning regulations, and building inspections.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve building plans according to local building codes and regulations
• Conduct inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance with building codes and safety standards
• Enforce zoning laws and regulations to ensure compliance with local land use policies
• Provide technical guidance and support to permit applicants and contractors
• Respond to complaints and inquiries related to building code violations
• Keep abreast of changes in building codes and regulations and implement updates as necessary

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in building inspection and code enforcement
• Knowledge of local building codes and zoning regulations
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Qualifications

While not required, candidates with experience in fire prevention and emergency response are encouraged to apply.

Pay

$80,000 - $90,000 annually
