Pay: $14.57 an hour, 7.5 hours a day

About the role

To provide competent instruction and classroom management in the absence of the regular teacher.

Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs all classes and duties normally assigned to the teacher for whom you are substituting.
• Follows the teacher’s plans and program of study using provided materials and equipment.
• Maintains a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
• Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner, consistent with school rules and procedures.
• Maintains familiarity with the course of study as set forth in county curriculum guides.
• Carries out policies of the Coweta County Board of Education related to the school, classroom, and contacts with pupils and parents under the supervision of the principal.
• Cooperates professionally with fellow workers and school administration.
• Complies with any reasonable oral or written directive from the principal or other administrators.

Requirements

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in education preferred.
• If not parapro certified, must take the GACE or provide an official transcript to the PSC to obtain Parapro certification.

Skills

• Ability to organize, direct, and control children in various instructional settings.
• Proficiency in oral and written communication.
• Ability to adjust to changing conditions and situations.
• Experience working with and directing children, preferably in an educational setting.
