Job Description

To provide for the competent application of instructional plans for an assigned class of students in the absence of the regular teacher.

Maintains a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.

Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

Maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner consistent with school rules and procedures.

Maintains familiarity with the course of study as set forth in the county curriculum guides.

Carries out the policies of the Coweta County Board of Education as they relate to the school, to the classroom and to contacts with pupils and parents under the supervision of the local school principal.

Cooperates professionally with all fellow workers and with the administration of the school.

Complies with any reasonable oral or written directive of the principal or other appropriate administrators.

Required Education, Certification Or Training

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experienced in education preferred.
• If not parapro certified, must take the GACE, or have an official transcript sent to PSC to get the Parapro certification.

Required Skills

• Ability to organize, direct and control children in a variety of settings and instructional activities.
• Proficiency required in oral and written communication.
• Ability to adjust to changing conditions and situations.

Required Experience

• Experience in working with and directing the activities of children, preferably in education.
