Position Summary

The Permanent Substitute plays a critical role in ensuring continuity of learning by delivering strong, consistent instruction across classrooms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver clear, engaging instruction aligned to teacher lesson plans and school expectations
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and respectful classroom through strong management practices (e.g., active monitoring, circulation, positive narration)
  • Build quick, positive relationships with students across grade levels and subject areas
  • Provide in-the-moment feedback to support student learning and behavior
  • Ensure continuity of learning by keeping students engaged and on task throughout the class period
  • Adapt seamlessly across classrooms, subjects, and routines with minimal preparation time
  • Navigate unexpected challenges with professionalism and a solutions-oriented mindset
  • Uphold consistent expectations and procedures across all assignments

Professional Responsibilities

  • Take accurate attendance and ensure completion and submission of student work
  • Communicate effectively with staff to support smooth classroom transitions
  • Reflect on performance and actively seek feedback to strengthen practice

CANDIDATE PROFILE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, not required
  • High School Diploma required
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Flexible, solutions-oriented, and quick to adapt
  • Reliable, professional, and student-centered
  • Committed to maintaining high-quality instruction at all times
  • Open to feedback and driven to grow

Compensation

  • Annual Salary Ranges: $35,000 - $50,000 starting salary depending on degree level, certification, content, previous student outcomes, and experience
  • Additional Stipends Available: Employees may be eligible for stipends or supplemental compensation for approved responsibilities that extend beyond the regular duties of their position.
  • Raises and Bonuses: We believe exceptional performance should be recognized. Employees may be eligible for performance-based raises and bonuses. Eligibility and award amounts are determined based on demonstrated results, contributions to the organization, available funding, and other relevant factors.

  • Medical: RISE covers 85% of employee-only premiums; employee covers 15% (spouse and dependent costs are the employee's responsibility)

  • 401(k): 100% employer match on first 3% deferred; 50% match on contributions from 3% to 5%; no vesting period
