About the Role

Provides technical support for surgical technologists, registered nurses, and members of anesthesia staff. Responsible for maintaining, cleaning, storing, and providing equipment and supplies as needed. Enhances case efficiency by reducing case turnover time and length. Maintains confidentiality standards and demonstrates sensitivity to patient's dignity, comfort, and privacy. Prioritizes customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Aid in turning over rooms by assisting with cleanup and initiating setups for new cases.
• Responsible for transport of all patients to and from the OR from all areas of the hospital.
• Assist with patient preparation for surgery (e.g., skin clip and scrub).
• Assists as needed to care for patients regardless of department assignment.
• Run intra-operative errands for staff during cases (e.g., lab work, specimens, picking up instruments from Central Sterile).
• Respond to needs of OR staff for supplies, equipment, pharmaceuticals, etc.
• Respond to emergency calls to any OR.
• Maintain a clean and orderly environment; keep trash, linen, and supplies in proper locations.
• Problem-solve and prioritize work proactively to avoid last-minute needs by anticipating practitioners' and patients' needs.
• Stock supplies and assist with inventory management by informing supervisors if supplies are inappropriate.
• May initiate resolution in emergencies.
• Assist with patient positioning while following principles of good body mechanics to prevent injury to self or the patient.
• Assemble equipment outside of assigned room(s) for "to follow" cases (e.g., positioning aids, ice bags, coolers with ice, video equipment, specialty carts, headlights, loupes, etc.).

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent OR post-high school diploma/highest degree earned.
• Experience working with supply management, healthcare terminology, or an operating room environment preferred.
