Perinatal Diabetes Educator- Maternal Fetal Medicine
Position Summary
The Perinatal Diabetic Educator is responsible to assess, plan, coordinate and implement diabetes counseling and education to pregnant diabetic patients, to include the development of care plans and self-management skills. This is a professional level position of working independently under limited direction and in collaboration with the Maternal Fetal Medicine physician. This position oversees all components of a particular area of expertise (diabetes in pregnancy).

- Work situations are primarily routine yet require a service oriented individual, organization, prioritization, analysis of workflow, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills in working with staff, physicians, and families.
- Extensive internal and external contacts include patients, patient families, physicians, community agencies, and hospitals.
- Internal contacts include physicians, and professional staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree Nursing
- Current Registered Nurse license in Washington State or Multistate License endorsement (MLS)
- Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist certification, or certification obtained within 2 years
- Current BLS Certification required
- Three (3) years progressively responsible, related experience to ensure familiarity with scope of program
