Assists physicians in the medical center by performing all duties necessary to provide perfusion services during cardiac, vascular, ECMO, and other surgical cases. Reports to the Manager-Perfusion Services. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with Mercy’s mission, values, and service standards.

About the role

The Perfusionist provides comprehensive perfusion services for cardiac, vascular, ECMO, and other surgical procedures. This role partners closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary care teams to ensure the highest standards of patient care and clinical excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all perfusion-related responsibilities during cardiac, vascular, ECMO, and other surgical procedures.
  • Operate and manage perfusion equipment while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and quality outcomes.
  • Participate fully in departmental clinical responsibilities, including on-call coverage.
  • Support seamless workflow and operational excellence within the Perfusion Services department.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, surgical teams, and intensive care staff to coordinate patient care.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and departmental innovation.
  • Maintain clinical competency through continuing education and professional development.
  • Foster strong communication, teamwork, and service excellence throughout the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Licensed Clinical Perfusionist (LCP) in the applicable state of practice (provisional licensure accepted for new graduates).
  • Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) required (ABCP certified or eligible).

Qualifications

  • New graduate Perfusionists are encouraged to apply.
  • Previous perfusion experience preferred but not required.

New Graduate Pathway

Candidates hired with provisional licensure must obtain Licensed Clinical Perfusionist (LCP) credential and Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) certification within one year of employment.

Pay

Up to $20,000 sign-on bonus and $6,000 relocation assistance.
