Performing Arts Teacher

Responsibilities

• Teach music theory, music history, and different musical genres.
• Provide instruction in vocal and/or instrumental techniques.
• Prepare students for music exams, competitions, and performances.
• Conduct rehearsals for school choirs, orchestras, bands, and musical productions.
• Develop and implement engaging music lessons that align with curriculum standards.
• Create and adapt lesson plans to meet the diverse needs of students.
• Plan a balanced music program, organizing daily class time for preparation, rehearsal, and instruction.
• Assess student progress and provide feedback.
• Maintain records of student progress.
• Identify student needs and collaborate with other staff to address learning problems.
• Establish and maintain a positive and conducive learning environment.
• Communicate effectively with parents, students, and school staff.
• Participate in faculty meetings and other school activities.
• Organize and lead extracurricular music activities, such as after-school clubs, ensembles, and performances.
• Collaborate with school administration to provide musical programs for school productions, graduation ceremonies, and civic functions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in music education or a related field.
• New Jersey teaching certificate or eligibility for certification.
• Previous experience teaching music to students of various ages and skill levels.
• Experience in curriculum development and classroom management.
