About the role

MTA Metro-North Railroad is a dynamic organization providing service to over 86.5 million customers, operating out of Grand Central Terminal. This position manages Operations Department analytical processes and systems, along with new performance data collection and analysis initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in efforts to develop impacts of changes to current standard operations and new initiatives impacting the Operations Department.
  • Achieve key performance indicators for Metro-North, both historically and projected, and benchmark operations department processes against other peer commuter railroads.
  • Prepare periodic presentations covering analytic reviews and graphs for senior management, MTA staff, MTA Board Members, and CDOT staff.
  • Maintain operational performance, such as OTP, service delivery, and fleet readiness, to senior vice presidents and other senior leaders.
  • Assist in the development and validation of systems supporting initiatives and develop reports to track actual results versus goals.
  • Support process improvement management, data analysis, and project tracking.
  • Provide hands-on support in process improvement management, data analysis, and project tracking.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Transparent, results-oriented, and accountable with strong partnership focus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to communicate with internal and external contacts at all levels.
  • Strong analytical skills, self-starter, self-motivated, and reliable performer who can manage multiple assignments.
  • Advanced knowledge of analysis and reporting, overseeing Operations Department reporting processes, and familiarity with systems and programs including PeopleSoft, ECR SAFER, Cority, etc., and complex database applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Power BI), exceptional interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of the organization, and the ability to adjust work schedule to accommodate special projects.

Preferred

  • Master’s Degree in a related field.
  • Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) with a concentration in Business, Computer Science, Transportation or related field.
