Performance Foodservice Hiring Event 8/8, Delivery Driver

Hiring Event: Saturday, August 8th from 10a–2p at the DoubleTree by the Hilton Hotel in Springfield, MO.

Pay

Drivers average $83,000 annually.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, with layovers and occasional Saturdays. Start and end times vary; drivers average upwards of 12-hour days. 4- and 5-day work weeks available.

About the role

Food and food-service delivery drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. Our delivery drivers ensure customers’ products arrive at their destination at the arranged times and in good condition. They also serve as the face of our company, building lasting relationships with customers.

Drivers operate tractor-trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop routes to deliver and unload food and food-related products to customers safely, on time, and in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Responsibilities

• Communicate and interact with customers, vendors, and co-workers professionally, answering questions accurately and in a timely manner.
• Perform all required safety checks (pre/post trip), including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations; inspect equipment to ensure it meets company safety standards and report any issues or repairs needed.
• Follow all DOT regulations and company safe-driving guidelines; immediately report all safety hazards.
• Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight; perform count checks and verify customer invoices.
• Complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
• Move tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed.
• Drive to and deliver customer orders according to the predetermined route and delivery schedule.
• Unload products from the trailer and transport items into designated customer storage areas.
• Perform damage-control checks, scan items, and contact supervisor about removing orders according to company policy.
• Verify delivery of items with the customer and obtain proper signatures; collect money (cash or checks) where required.
• Load customer returns onto the trailer and secure trailer doors; ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and secured at all times.
• Unload damaged goods and customer returns, bring them to driver check-in, and complete necessary paperwork.
• Unload all equipment and materials, and remove trash from trailers as required.
• Complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
• Perform general housekeeping duties in the tractor, loading-dock area, and keep trailers clean as required.
• At the end of the shift, secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
• 6+ months of commercial driving experience.
• Valid CDL-A.
• Must be 21+ years of age.
• Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
• Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
• Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
• Pass road test.
• Attain or have a valid current DOT Health Card and/or be able to secure a new one.
• Able to hand-lift and utilize a two-wheeler, lift gate, and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout the shift (product generally ranges from 10–35 pounds and up to 60–90 pounds, depending on location).
