About the Role

This position is not about teaching—Alpha’s AI handles instructional delivery. Instead, you’ll focus on motivation, coaching, and upholding rigorous standards. Your time will be divided into:

• 40% direct 1-on-1 and small-group coaching to identify obstacles and set ambitious goals
• 40% facilitating structured life-skills workshops designed for mastery, not just engagement
• 20% morning sessions to set daily expectations and reinforce a culture of excellence

The trajectory emphasizes depth over advancement. You’ll build long-term relationships with students, staying in their corner as they grow, and witnessing their transformation from hesitation to confidence.

Responsibilities

• Conduct 1-on-1 and small-group coaching sessions using Coachbot analytics and student performance data to identify barriers, set ambitious objectives, and maintain accountability
• Facilitate structured life-skills workshops, drawing on your elite background to evaluate mastery through Alpha’s Test2Pass framework
• Establish campus-wide cultural expectations through morning sessions that reinforce high-performance standards
• Monitor student development in real time, adjusting coaching approaches based on data
• Cultivate trusted mentorship relationships with students and families through consistent high standards and documented motivation strategies

What You Won’t Be Doing

• Delivering lessons, creating curriculum, or evaluating assignments (Alpha’s AI handles instruction)
• Teaching large classrooms of 30 students (work centers on intensive small-group coaching)
• Supervising personnel or pursuing administrative advancement (focus remains on direct student impact)
• Attending traditional faculty meetings or dealing with institutional bureaucracy
• Lowering standards to meet targets (e.g., if a student reaches 99%, your role is to determine why they didn’t hit 100%)

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• At least one instance of exceptional achievement in a highly selective, globally recognized domain (e.g., national/international competition medals, top-tier university with distinction, highly selective firm or fellowship, elite performing arts institution, or founding/scaling a successful venture)
• At least 3 years of experience in student coaching, youth mentoring, athletic coaching, or leadership roles where you measurably raised others’ performance
• Willingness to work in-person at an Alpha campus in: Orange County, CA; Palo Alto, CA; San Francisco, CA; South Bay, CA; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Boston, MA; New York City, NY; or Kirkland (Seattle), WA (relocation support provided)
• Legal right to work in the United States

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Background in elite competitive athletics (varsity D1, national team, or professional level) with coaching/mentoring experience
• Experience in high-accountability environments (e.g., management consulting, investment banking, military leadership)
• Track record of youth development through mentoring in non-academic settings (community organizations, after-school programs, sports camps)
• Comfort presenting to and building trust with high-expectation families paying premium private school tuition

$150,000 USD per year, paid weekly.
