Responsibilities
- Surgical PA Services first assist in the OR for specialties including but not limited to general, plastic, spine, bariatric and OB/GYN cases.
- Rounding on general surgery patients daily as a team-based approach with attendings, residents, students.
- Cover admissions and consults for general surgeons.
- On call from home coverage with night coverage responsibilities including first assisting emergent OR cases, admissions and consults for general surgery.
- Responsible for floor procedures including but not limited to NG tube insertion and removal, wound vac and dressings changes, bedside I&D.
- Cross-coverage in scheduling between Northern Dutchess Hospital and Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program and NCCPA certified.
- Strong surgical and patient management experience.
- At least one to three years of surgical experience and/or surgical residency training preferred, but new graduates and nurse practitioners with RNF certification and surgical experience will also be considered.
