Pay
The stated pay scale reflects the range as defined by the collective bargaining agreement between Sharp HealthCare and Sharp Professional Nurses Network, United Nurses Associations of California/Union of Health Care Professionals, NUHHCE, AFSME, AFL-CIO. Placement within the range is based on years of RN experience.
- Minimum: $61.740/hour
- Midpoint: $70.170/hour
- Maximum: $90.160/hour
Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect nursing services to patients and families.
- Delegate and assign care delivery processes, communicating clear expectations to each team member.
- Analyze situations to determine appropriate levels of supervision for delegated tasks (unsupervised, initial direction and periodic inspection, continuous supervision, or tasks that should not be delegated).
- Assess appropriateness of physician orders and question when necessary.
- Document care per department and entity guidelines, ensuring comprehensive, detailed, and critical-thinking-driven records.
- Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families, addressing spiritual, cultural, language, or communication barriers.
- Act as a patient advocate by removing obstacles, identifying needs, and interpreting for patients and physicians.
- Support coworkers by offering assistance, providing feedback, and improving work processes.
- Provide age-appropriate patient education to facilitate recovery, self-care, health maintenance, and wellness.
- Coordinate transfer and discharge planning in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Use systematic planning and timely communication to coordinate care with the multidisciplinary team.
- Utilize the nursing process and critical thinking to provide individualized, goal-directed care that incorporates mind, body, and spirit.
- Identify actual or potential patient problems, continuously evaluate interventions, and adjust care plans as needed.
- Make appropriate referrals based on assessments and collaborate with the team to develop comprehensive care plans.
- Prioritize resource demands and act as a preceptor or teacher for other nurses.
- Implement safe, therapeutic, and efficient care for patients with complex needs due to multi-system disease or treatment complications.
- Demonstrate accountability for achieving patient outcomes and quickly recognize patient diagnoses even with dissimilar presenting symptoms.
Requirements
- Graduate of nursing school.
- 2 years of clinical experience.
- California Registered Nurse (RN) license – CA Board of Registered Nursing (REQUIRED).
- AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) certification – American Heart Association (REQUIRED).
Skills
- Independently perform the nursing process through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for patients with overt and subtle needs.
- Provide safe nursing care in complex situations with some assistance and supervision.
- Demonstrate competency in unit-specific skills and some advanced skills; may teach skills competencies.
- Coordinate patient care administered by other team members.
- Assume responsibility as a relief charge nurse and assist with preceptorship or professional development of new nurses and students.
- Use common equipment and medications safely; consult others when unfamiliar.
- Recognize inconsistencies in patient care and manage potential complications.
- Demonstrate consistent organization and prioritization of workload.
