Summary Of Functions
- Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provision of professional nursing care with donors and families
- Skillfully uses the range of equipment, medication and other modalities
- Hemodynamic monitoring, medication compounding and administration
- Routine lab drawings and point of care testing
- General bedside nursing care
- Establishes and enhances relationships with donor families
- Accesses and reviews the referring hospital’s medical records charts
- Consults with assigned PTC and intensivist team
- Formulates a treatment plan
- Advocates on behalf of potential donors and their families
- Maintains established policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control
- OneLegacy Recovery Center Responsibilities:
- Maintain proficiency and competency in all organ operations
- Personnel Functions:
- Maintains professional conduct
- Cooperates with other personnel
- Maintains an effective and friendly working relationship
- Meets with and solicits advice from various stakeholders
- Work Schedule Responsibility:
- Shares schedule responsibility
- Additional work time and shifts are assigned
- Gives verbal report to oncoming OneLegacy staff
- Ensures proper functioning of issued devices
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Ability to assume responsibility without direct supervision, exercise initiative, judgment and make decisions within the scope of assigned authority
- Able to keep accurate records, perform statistical analyses and interpret data
- Keyboarding skills for using a personal computer
- Interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal with all levels of management, staff, medical professionals, hospital staff and to work within the individual guidelines of OneLegacy affiliated community donor hospitals, organ transplantation centers, eye and tissue banks
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral, to include the ability to make public presentations
- Instructional skills in written and verbal form
- Able to perform patient transfers and heavy lifting up to 50 pounds
- Able to function as an effective and competent team member
- Maintain confidentiality of all information pertinent to organ, eye and tissue donors and recipients, OneLegacy staff, OneLegacy affiliated donor hospitals and affiliated processors
Job Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Experience: Emergency department and critical care, minimum of 2 years of experience
- Certification/License: Current Nursing license and associated critical care certifications, BCLS certification required at the time of employment, ACLS and PALS certification within the employee’s orientation period
- Equipment: Must be able to use office equipment, including personal computer, fax machine, calculator, photocopier/scanner, cell phone and audio/visual equipment
- Reliable automotive transportation required
