Per Diem Respiratory Therapist (Adult) | NYP-Allen Hospital | Flex Shift

NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Allen Hospital is at the forefront of respiratory therapy, having been one of the first hospitals to implement a nitric oxide program and renowned for breakthrough work with oscillating and jet ventilators. The hospital continues to utilize advanced techniques that improve care quality and shorten length of stays.
This is an adult inpatient/outpatient per-diem respiratory therapist position for weekdays and weekend schedules, with holiday coverage if needed at NewYork-Presbyterian/Allen Hospital (5141 Broadway, New York, NY 10034). The role requires a minimum of 2 days (15 hours) per month and 1 weekend shift per quarter.
Responsibilities
- Perform various treatments, therapies, invasive and non-invasive procedures under the direction of a licensed physician
- Clinically supervise and monitor clinical activities of Respiratory Technicians as described within the licensure law
- Assist in transportation of intubated patients with special emphasis on maintaining airways and providing adequate ventilation and oxygenation
- Assess modalities of respiratory therapy and recommend changes, including improvements appropriate to the delivery of respiratory care
Qualifications
Required
- Associate’s degree in Applied Science and Respiratory Therapy
- Current New York State Respiratory Therapist License
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification (BCLS)
Preferred
- 1–2 years of hospital-based experience
- Pediatric experience
- RRT and CRT certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care
Schedule
Per-diem, rotating shift. Minimum commitment of 2 days (15 hours) per month and 1 weekend shift per quarter. Weekday, weekend, and holiday coverage as needed. On-site presence required; employees must live within a commutable distance to NYP (no travel reimbursement).
Pay
Salary range: $73.00 per hour.
