Per Diem Relief Counselors

About the role

Mohawk Opportunities, Inc. operates Certified Community Residences located in Schenectady for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness who have a continuing need for rehabilitative services. This level of programming is intended to respond to the needs of individuals who have demonstrated an ability to live in a community setting but are not yet ready to live independently. As a Relief Counselor you will provide program support as needed.

Responsibilities

• Providing supportive counseling
• Providing rehabilitation skills such as teaching of daily living skills including medication management and coping skills, crisis intervention and prevention
• Facilitating recreational activities for socialization and stress reduction.
• Supervise medications
• Maintaining a healthy and clean environment for our clients ensuring clients are doing their chores correctly and by assisting with cleaning activities.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid and insurable driver's license preferred
• Ability to perform CPR/First Aid required.
• Training Provided.
• Human Service Experience
• Both the ability to work independently and as a team member
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
