About the role
Provide individual and group support to clients in a residential or day program/clubhouse. Teach skills to enhance independence and quality of life. Function in a professional role in order to fulfill programmatic needs/ routines.
Responsibilities
- Aid in developing, implementing, and documenting individual treatment support plans.
- Responsible for a variety of daily tasks with clients, including rehabilitative interventions, behavioral interventions, and monitoring.
- Support clients in becoming fully integrated into their communities.
- Assess clients' physical and emotional status and report changes to supervisor.
- Maintain program site safety and perform daily living and cleaning tasks.
- Comply with all corporate and divisional policies and procedures, including safe work practices, worker’s compensation, universal precautions, and exposure control.
- Complete various paperwork and logs including communication logs, community membership logs, chore schedules, time sheets, and application forms.
- Perform crisis intervention, as needed.
- Perform other related duties, as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Prior experience working with people with disabilities is preferred.
Skills
- Knowledge and use of advocacy techniques.
- Knowledge and use of different communication styles.
- Knowledge of empowerment and self-advocacy techniques.
- Knowledge of required physical personal management skills.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.
- Sensitivity to cultural, religious, racial, disability, and gender issues.
- Teaching skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Ability to provide role model behaviors.
