About the Role

As a Physical Therapist Assistant in our acute care setting, you’ll work side-by-side with expert physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care to patients recovering from trauma, surgery, neurological events, and complex medical conditions.

Provide direct therapeutic care to patients in ICU, ER, PACU, surgical, and medical units under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. Work within your scope of practice as part of a multidisciplinary team. Implement rehabilitative programs that improve or restore physical function, alleviate pain, and prevent dysfunction in patients with impairments, functional limitations, disabilities, or changes in physical function and health status due to injury, disease, or other causes.

Responsibilities

• Safely and effectively implements the treatment intervention with sound clinical judgment and skill.
• Engages a high degree of patient motivation and cooperation in treatment, as evidenced by patient compliance.
• Provides patient/family education during therapy and in preparation for discharge.
• Thoroughly and accurately maintains all medical record documentation in accordance with department policy and procedures.
• Documents daily treatment notes in the medical record according to department standards.
• Meets department standards for productivity and completes daily statistics in accordance with policy.
• Delegates tasks to support staff when appropriate.
• Applies knowledge of Quality Improvement Initiatives within the department and assists in data collection.
• Attends internal and external educational programs and reads professional journals to maintain and enhance skills.
• Shares knowledge and skills with co-workers.
• Maintains strict adherence to confidentiality policies and complies with all organizational policies and behavioral expectations.
• Demonstrates courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients.
• Participates in departmental and interdepartmental quality improvement activities.
• Completes mandatory education and performs other duties as needed or directed.

Requirements

• Associate Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
• Active MA Physical Therapy Assistant License.
• At least one year of experience typically gained in a healthcare or related environment.
• Knowledge of Physical Therapy Assistant theory and practice.
• Ability to observe and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.
• Skilled in critical judgment and critical thinking.
• Ability to effectively communicate medical information, test results, diagnoses, and/or proposed treatment in an easily understandable manner.
• Clear and effective oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of Physical Therapy services, facilities, and equipment.
• Proficient in the use of PCs and electronic systems for scheduling, data collection, reporting, and communication.
• Ability to determine individual patient needs and maintain patient medical records.
• Knowledge of a range of therapy methods and techniques.
• Ability to maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards.
• Ability to use independent judgment and manage confidential information.

Schedule

Per diem with a minimum requirement of 2 weekend days per month. Coverage includes both weekdays and weekends.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $30.20 - $40.65 per hour. Actual compensation is determined based on factors such as seniority, education, training, relevant experience, certifications, geography, job responsibilities, and other applicable factors. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime, and other additional pay practices.
