Per Diem Patient Access Representative Associate

About the role

As an Optum employee, you will provide support to the Allina Health account. The work you do with our team will directly improve health outcomes by connecting people with the care, pharmacy benefits, data, and resources they need. This role is responsible for greeting and welcoming patients in person and providing a standard registration process by collecting demographic and financial data and entering information into an electronic medical record.

Responsibilities

• Greets and welcomes patients in person
• Collects demographic and insurance information
• Checks in and interviews patients to complete appropriate paperwork
• Directs patients to their appointment or procedure
• Documents any issues and resolutions in the electronic medical record
• Uses resources, tools, and procedures to complete registration for complex accounts
• May assist in scheduling add-on appointments
• Verifies eligibility and benefits information for payers and interprets results, focusing on complex billing situations
• Obtains cost information and explains it to patients if necessary
• Collects co-pay or deductibles
• Assists and counsels patients with the application process for available financial assistance programs
• Provides technical or functional direction for employees
• Uses resources, tools, and procedures to complete accounts in assigned work queues
• Assists patients in completing request-for-information forms and submits them to the appropriate department

Requirements

• 6+ months of customer service experience in an office/hospital setting
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office products
• Ability to work every 3rd Saturday and Sunday
• Ability to work every 3rd holiday
• Ability to work on a per diem basis within any of the following shifts, including weekends/holidays:
  • Day Shift: 8.5-hour shift starting anywhere between 5:30am–10:00am
  • Evening Shift: 8.5-hour shift starting between 2:30pm, 3:00pm, or 7:00pm
  • Night Shift: 11:00pm – 7:30am
• Ability to work standard daytime hours, Monday–Friday, for the first 3 weeks after hire in alignment with the training schedule
• Must be 18 years of age or older

• Revenue Cycle experience
• General office experience
• Epic experience

Pay

The hourly pay for this role ranges from $16.00 to $29.00 per hour based on full-time employment.
