Per Diem Operating Room RN
About the Role
The Per Diem Operating Room RN plays a vital role in supporting patients through their fertility journey by delivering exceptional care in the surgical suite. This position is ideal for compassionate, detail-oriented individuals who excel in fast-paced environments and want to make a meaningful difference. As a Per Diem Operating Room RN, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide pre-, intra-, and post-operative care while ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and comfort.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for procedures, perform preoperative assessment, give discharge instructions, and start IV.
- Recover patients after general anesthesia and monitored anesthesia care. Reinforce discharge instructions.
- Deliver direct patient care during pre-, intra-, and post-operative phases in the surgical suite.
- Accurately document patient care and procedures in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Clearly communicate post-operative instructions to patients and families.
- Oversee surgical suite operations, ensuring cleanliness, sterility, and equipment functionality.
- Adhere to and enforce aseptic techniques, quality control measures, and safety standards.
- Initiate emergency protocols as needed and coordinate equipment repairs.
- Mentor new staff and provide updates on any protocol changes.
- Support organizational policies and contribute to process improvements.
- Collaborate with the Surgery Manager to assess equipment and supply needs.
- Monitor patient conditions and communicate changes to the surgical team.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Education & Licensure: Completion of an accredited nursing program (Associate’s Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing). Active RN license issued by the Oregon State Board of Nursing. Current BLS and/or ACLS certifications, or willingness to obtain.
- Experience: Minimum of two years' experience as an RN. Minimum of 1 year of RN experience in a pre-op/post-op setting preferred.
- Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a diverse and fast-paced environment. Ability to perform physical tasks including standing for extended periods, bending, transferring patients, and pushing or pulling equipment.
Compensation
Hourly Rate: $45.00 - $60.00 per hour (final offers based on experience, skills, and qualifications).
