Per Diem Nurse - Pediatrics

MD Anderson Cancer Center’s Pediatrics department provides specialized, compassionate care to children and families throughout the cancer care continuum. Pediatric nurses work alongside physicians and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care, support families, manage complex clinical needs, and help ensure the best possible outcomes for young patients.

About the role

This Per Diem Clinical Nurse position offers the opportunity to provide direct, patient-centered nursing care in a specialized pediatric oncology environment. The role is ideal for a compassionate and clinically skilled nurse who can adapt to changing patient needs, work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, and provide safe, high-quality care in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs and provide or coordinate nursing care.
• Administer medications, perform clinical procedures, and manage emergencies.
• Monitor patient outcomes and collaborate closely with physicians, patients, families, and other care-team members to develop and evaluate care plans.
• Ensure continuity of care throughout the patient’s experience.
• Communicate patient needs and clinical information with multidisciplinary team members.
• Document care according to established standards.
• Use clinical technology and computer systems to access, enter, and retrieve patient information accurately.
• Support the continuum of care through discharge planning, patient and family education, and coordination of services.
• Help patients and families understand their care and navigate transitions.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
• 1 year of relevant clinical nursing experience.
• RN – Registered Nurse – State Licensure: State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN).
• BLS – Basic Life Support OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• Experience in pediatric or pediatric oncology nursing.
• OCN – Oncology Nurse Certification.
• ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
• PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support.

Pay

USD 51,376 per year.

Schedule

Evening/Night shifts.
