Per Diem Nurse - ACC Irvine PACU - Days
About the role
The Preop/PACU Hybrid nurse collaborates with the Dept. of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Care and other surgical and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement a plan of care for a specific group of assigned patients. This role involves assessing, planning, intervening, and advocating for patients on an ongoing basis throughout the post anesthesia period. Evaluating patient outcomes, the effectiveness of the plan of care, and readiness for discharge from PACU are key responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Dept. of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Care and other surgical and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement a plan of care for a specific group of assigned patients.
- Absess, plan, intervene, and advocate for patients on an ongoing basis throughout the post anesthesia period.
- Evaluate patient outcomes, the effectiveness of the plan of care, and readiness for discharge from PACU.
- Act as a role model and mentor to a variety of students and nurses new to the unit.
- Function as a (PCC) Patient Care Coordinator as requested by the supervisor/manager.
Requirements
Must possess a minimum of 5 years current PACU experience, minimum 1 year Preop experience and ICU experience in a critical care unit. Must be able to participate in on call rotation and work occasional weekends & evenings. Current PALS certification or must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
Skills
Knowledge of Title 22 and Joint Commission Requirements, Greater than two years of demonstrated nursing experience in a critical care or post anesthesia unit, Demonstrated experience working in a Level 1 Trauma Center, Current CPAN, CAPA, CCRN certifications, Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families.
