Per Diem Mammography Technologist

About the Role

Perform mammography procedures to assist in screening, diagnosis, and treatment, ensuring patient comfort and modesty. Prepare patients and equipment, position patients accurately, and operate mammographic radiographic devices following department protocols. Evaluate images for quality and proper documentation, adjusting techniques based on patient-specific factors. Support patient care by addressing psychological and physical needs, and assist with related tasks such as patient transfer and clerical duties.

This role requires physical stamina, working indoors in a patient care environment, with a focus on delivering respectful, quality care aligned with industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients, ensure identification, and obtain requisitions
• Operate and maintain mammography equipment, following safety and quality standards
• Position patients and acquire diagnostic images as per protocols
• Maintain a clean work environment and perform routine clerical tasks
• Follow department policies, adjust techniques as needed, and evaluate image quality

Requirements

• ARRT certification in Radiology
• Mammography certification
• RTR licensure in Massachusetts
• BLS certification
• Knowledge of mammographic equipment, proper positioning, and radiation safety
• Ability to calculate technical factors based on patient attributes
• Strong attention to detail, communication, and patient care skills
