Per Diem Hospice Chaplain (Wichita)

About the role

Ennoble Care is seeking an experienced per diem Hospice Chaplain to work within and around our Wichita, KS market. The Hospice Chaplain will provide pastoral/spiritual care for patients nearing end of life and for their families during the bereavement process, functioning as an integral part of an interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral/spiritual care to patients and/or families, including visits and ministry.
• Work with the Clinical Director and other team members to develop a spiritual care continuum of care appropriate for hospice patients and families.
• Conduct spiritual assessments and develop care plans addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
• Provide pastoral support at bedside, funerals, and memorials as requested.
• Document patient visits per company and compliance policy.
• Function as a member of the interdisciplinary team, participating in staff meetings, IDT meetings, and in-services.
• Organize company-sponsored memorial services as appropriate.
• Provide spiritual and emotional support to staff members.
• Initiate and maintain communication with area inter-faith clergy to facilitate spiritual care.
• Act as a bridge between patients, families, and clergy for end-of-life sacramental support and pastoral care.
• Educate staff about specific religious needs and issues affecting patient care.
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested, ensuring holistic patient care.
• Contribute value-added activities that promote well-being among clients, patients, families, and staff.

Requirements

• Master’s of Divinity Degree or equivalent in theological studies.
• At least four units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE).
• Board Certified as a Chaplain or eligible for Board Certification under ACPE or CPSP.
• Minimum of two years of pastoral experience in a healthcare setting; hospice experience is desirable.
• Excellent communication, pastoral, and organizational skills.
• High degree of emotional energy, mental alertness, and ability to support patients and families experiencing pain, suffering, death, and grief.
• Computer literacy and ability to perform timely charting using the company’s EMR system.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse ages, lifestyles, cultures, and religious backgrounds.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and be held accountable.
• Adequate physical and emotional health.
• Ecclesiastical endorsement or ordination in a religious setting is desirable.
