Per Diem Health Physics Specialist

About the Role

Assists the Radiation Safety Office staff in providing an effective broad scope radiation safety service to Lahey Hospital & Medical Center. Conducts qualitative and quantitative measurements, analyzes data, and generates reports to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Identifies, collects, labels, and tests radiation protective apparel (RPA).
• Operates x-ray machines at settings optimized for RPA testing.
• Documents test results and updates individual follow-up records. These records may include pictures as appropriate to document RPA performance.
• Coordinates RPA service with clinic staff.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in science is preferred.
• 0-1 years related work experience required.
• Full-time positions must pass investigative background check satisfactory to department, Medical Center, State and Federal regulatory policies and standards.
• Experience with computer systems required, including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.

Physical Requirements

Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Job is physical in nature and the employee needs to stand and/or move around through the majority of their shift.

Pay

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay: $28.85 - $40.87. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, including seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
