Responsibilities
- Performs evaluation and management for OB care for patients in the OBGyn Clinic
- Completes ACOG Prenatal Records and assigns risk factors
- Evaluates the progress in labor and actively participates in clinical care
- Acts as first assist for cesarean sections
- Completes admission assessment according to policy
- Performs circumcisions
- Anticipates potential length of stay or discharge problems
- Performs physical exam on initial visit and reports abnormal findings to MD
- Orders appropriate lab studies as indicated
- Participates in discharge planning
- Documents in a clear and legible manner in EMR system
- Utilizes the information management system to enhance communication
- Communicates and documents change in patient’s condition to all appropriate individuals
- Individualizes and documents educational plan based on age, cultural and spiritual values
- Communicates transfer of patient responsibility
- Documents emergency interventions according to policy
- Documents medication use and controlled substance per policy
- Assesses learning needs, readiness to learn and actual or potential barriers to learning
- Recognizes and integrates patient special needs and individualizes care
- Includes pain management and supportive care issues in the plan of care
- Adheres to infection control standards specific to patient care
- Delegates work to the care team
- Plans delivery of care according to patient acuity and staff competencies
Requirements
- MSN Required
- Nurse Midwife certification
- Current PA Registered Nurse license Required
- BLS Required
- ACLS Required
