Per Diem Certified Midwife

Responsibilities

• Performs evaluation and management for OB care for patients in the OBGyn Clinic
• Completes ACOG Prenatal Records and assigns risk factors
• Evaluates the progress in labor and actively participates in clinical care
• Acts as first assist for cesarean sections
• Completes admission assessment according to policy
• Performs circumcisions
• Anticipates potential length of stay or discharge problems
• Performs physical exam on initial visit and reports abnormal findings to MD
• Orders appropriate lab studies as indicated
• Participates in discharge planning
• Documents in a clear and legible manner in EMR system
• Utilizes the information management system to enhance communication
• Communicates and documents change in patient’s condition to all appropriate individuals
• Individualizes and documents educational plan based on age, cultural and spiritual values
• Communicates transfer of patient responsibility
• Documents emergency interventions according to policy
• Documents medication use and controlled substance per policy
• Assesses learning needs, readiness to learn and actual or potential barriers to learning
• Recognizes and integrates patient special needs and individualizes care
• Includes pain management and supportive care issues in the plan of care
• Adheres to infection control standards specific to patient care
• Delegates work to the care team
• Plans delivery of care according to patient acuity and staff competencies

Requirements

• MSN Required
• Nurse Midwife certification
• Current PA Registered Nurse license Required
• BLS Required
• ACLS Required
