About the role
The MGB Center for Sports Medicine is an exciting new initiative to build a nationally recognized and regional leader in sports medicine. It combines broad existing set of sports medicine capabilities across the MGB system (academic medical centers, community hospitals, physical therapy/rehab network) with a targeted incremental investment program to expand and grow the business.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Comprehensive management of Sports Medicine Program at the assigned program (high school)
- Provision of immediate assessment and care for injuries for the school’s interscholastic athletic teams
- Plan, implement, evaluate and modify appropriate preconditioning, conditioning and reconditioning programs for athletes as defined in MGL c. 112, s. 23A
- Review all pre-participation medical forms and information relevant to student-athletes' initial medical clearance to participate in interscholastic athletic program
- Providing athletic training services to student athletes participating in sports (games and practices) held at home sites and away sites
- Coincording practice/event coverage for the Athletic Department
- Communication with appropriate parties regarding the schedule of events for the athletic department
- Communicating with athletic administration, coaches, parents, primary care physicians, and specialists regarding injury diagnosis, treatment, injury trends, medical and health alerts, etc. as needed regarding specific athletes
- Document and track athletic injuries via the established documentation system and manages database of injury incidence
- Designs, implements and carries out injury prevention programs with student athletes, based on sport specific injury trend reports
- Use/s the Mass General Brigham values to govern decisions, actions and behaviors
Qualifications
- BOC Certification and MA Licensure as an Athletic Trainer required
- Bachelor's Degree required
- 1-3 years of relevant experience preferred

- Accurately documents objective information in medical record or appropriate system of record
- Follows school, hospital, and athletic department regulations, policies and procedures for infection control, equipment safety, confidentiality, fire and disaster plans
- Demonstrates tact, good judgment, and timeliness in communications
