About the role
The Senior PeopleSoft Developer III oversees, maintains, and troubleshoots PeopleSoft modules, providing support, development, and design expertise to implement reports and workflows. This role requires recent (prior five years) working expertise in PeopleSoft HCM (including Payroll for North America) and PeopleSoft Financial applications. The developer monitors regularly scheduled jobs, resolves production issues, performs patching and upgrades, and follows ITIL methodology while collaborating with developers, end users, and technical support groups to support hospital operations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee, maintain, and troubleshoot PeopleSoft HCM and Financial modules.
- Provide support, development, and design knowledge for reports and workflows.
- Monitor regularly scheduled jobs in Process Scheduler and Unix cron jobs.
- Resolve day-to-day production issues, apply patches, and perform upgrades following Oracle/PeopleSoft methodology.
- Communicate effectively with team members and users while adhering to ITIL methodology.
- Perform ongoing development, architecture, and maintenance of PeopleSoft HRMS and FIN applications.
- Conduct application and PeopleTools upgrades, patches, and enhancements.
- Perform quality assurance testing for system development and enhancements before production implementation.
- Maintain a list of standard reports and ensure scheduled publication.
- Review report specifications and initiate enhancements as required.
- Support end users in creating ad hoc reports and generate sophisticated reports for management.
- Assist with setup and maintenance of system job codes, tables, and related configurations.
- Coordinate implementation of interfaces with third-party data providers and internal systems.
- Maintain and develop interfaces as required.
- Interact with end users to address system needs and suggestions.
- Participate in an on-call rotation schedule.
- Write and maintain system documentation.
- Work off-shifts as needed to support system operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field OR equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 7+ years as a PeopleSoft Developer, supporting and implementing PeopleSoft HCM, including experience upgrading PeopleSoft release 8.x and 9.x.
- Hands-on experience with Application Designer, PeopleCode, Application Engines, File Layouts, Application Messaging, Integration Broker, PeopleSoft Security, and PeopleSoft Change Assistant.
- Participation in at least two PeopleSoft (8.x or above) upgrade projects, including new module installations.
- Experience supporting interfaces with various applications.
- Working knowledge of MS Windows, Unix Server, and network environments.
- Familiarity with ITIL Service Management best practices and change control processes.
- Ability to troubleshoot service interruptions, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Experience with the full application development lifecycle.
- Ability to work independently, manage changing priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to serve and train customers.
- Fluency in English with clear and concise articulation in written and oral communications.
- Experience supporting a 24x7 operational environment, including acting as primary on-call contact on a rotating basis.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical experience in Oracle release 10 or higher.
- Experience installing, patching, tuning, and supporting database products in a WinTel environment.
- Experience with Unix/AIX Operating Systems, including writing shell scripts.
- SQL query optimization and in-depth understanding of PeopleSoft HCM schemas.
- Experience in a PeopleTools 8.50 or higher environment.
Skills
- Proficiency in PeopleSoft HCM and Financials modules.
- Expertise in Component Interfaces, Workflow, and Integration Broker.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving to assess system changes and suggest solutions.
- Ability to handle multiple task interruptions while providing customer service.
