People Operations Specialist

The Talent World · Sheffield, TX · 1 wk ago
Human ResourcesFull-time

Sheffield - Hybrid. 3 days per week in Sheffield city centre office, 2 days remote / work from home (4 days per week in office during probation) - 40 hour week. Regular trips to other offices, including Lincoln and London (approx. 2 days a month) are essential. All travel and accommodation costs to non-base office locations are fully covered.

About The Role

We're looking for a People Operations Specialist to become the operational heartbeat of our People Team. While your primary focus will be People Operations, you'll also play an important role in creating a brilliant workplace experience in our Sheffield office. This isn't a role where you'll wait to be told what to do. You'll thrive here if you're the kind of person who spots something that needs doing and just gets on with it - someone who takes ownership, follows things through and gives others confidence that everything is under control.

You'll own the operational side of the employee lifecycle - from contracts and onboarding to Right to Work, visa compliance, employee communications and continuously improving the way our People Team operates. Alongside People Operations, you'll be the People Team's representative in our Sheffield office. You'll take ownership of the day-to-day office experience, helping create a workplace that people genuinely enjoy being part of. From facilities and office management to engagement initiatives and supporting our London and Lincoln offices when needed, you'll play an important role in making Goodlord a brilliant place to work.

You'll be joining a People Team that's investing in People Operations and giving it the recognition it deserves. We believe great People Ops isn't just administration - it's the foundation that enables everything else the People Team delivers.

Responsibilities

  • Own the operational side of the employee lifecycle, including contracts, onboarding, Right to Work checks, visa compliance, and employee communications.
  • Continuously improve People Team processes and operations.
  • Act as the People Team's representative in the Sheffield office, ensuring the workspace runs smoothly and feels welcoming.
  • Manage day-to-day office experience, including facilities, office management, and engagement initiatives.
  • Support the London and Lincoln offices as needed.
  • Take ownership of tasks and follow through without needing constant direction.

Requirements

  • Solid experience in a People Operations, HR Operations, or standalone HR role where you've owned employee lifecycle processes from start to finish.
  • Strong knowledge of onboarding, contracts, Right to Work checks, visas, and general HR/People Ops administration.
  • Hands-on experience using modern People systems (e.g., Personio, Learnerbly, Officevibe, or other HRIS and People tools).
  • Genuine passion for improving processes and finding smarter, more efficient ways of working.
  • Enjoy being visible, building relationships, and creating a brilliant workplace experience.
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.

Nice to Have

  • Experience planning employee engagement initiatives, office events, or workplace activities.
  • Interest in using AI or automation to improve operational processes.
  • CIPD Level 3 or Level 5 (or working towards it).

Benefits

  • 25 days holiday (plus UK Bank holidays) plus 1 day per full holiday year up to 32 days.
  • Bi-weekly coaching with Sanctus to support mental health.
  • Generous 3 months of fully-paid parental leave for all genders.
  • Annual development fund to support your personal and professional growth.
  • Great Place to Work - certified.
