About the role

The People Operations & Recruitment Coordinator supports the human resources and talent acquisition functions within Health Care for the Homeless (HCH). This role is pivotal in coordinating recruitment activities, managing candidate communications, and ensuring a seamless hiring process that aligns with company values and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Career postings and candidate screening
  • Interview scheduling and communication
  • Collaboration with hiring managers on staffing needs
  • Maintaining applicant tracking systems
  • Supporting onboarding activities
  • Assisting with employee engagement programs
  • Generating recruitment and HR reports
  • Ensuring compliance with employment laws and internal policies

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in recruitment, human resources, or people operations
  • Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS) and HR information systems (HRIS)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Experience in customer service or public facing environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Experience working in a fast-paced corporate environment or startup
  • Knowledge of employment laws and best practices in recruitment and HR
  • Certification in HR or recruitment (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR, AIRS)
  • Proficiency with HR analytics and reporting tools
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
  • Experience in a health care or non-profit setting highly preferred

Skills

  • Efficient management of recruitment workflows
  • Strong communication skills for liaising with candidates, hiring managers, and external partners
  • Organizational skills for maintaining accurate records and managing multiple tasks
  • Familiarity with ATS and HRIS systems for tracking applicants and managing data
  • Knowledge of employment laws and HR certifications for compliance and best practices
