People Operations Associate

About the role

Via is on a mission to create public transportation systems that provide far greater access to jobs, healthcare, and education. Our platform serves as the technology backbone for modern transit networks, transforming antiquated and siloed public transportation systems into smart, data‑driven, and efficient digital networks. As a People Operations Associate, you will be the operational backbone of Via’s People function, building HR infrastructure for every new market, standing up onboarding, navigating local compliance, and supporting field teams with learning experiences that scale across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Own the Launch Playbook end‑to‑end: HR setup, onboarding infrastructure, and local compliance for every new market Via enters.
• Travel to launch sites to provide on‑the‑ground HR support during new market go‑lives.
• Drive compliance and policy administration across all states where Via operates.
• Manage corporate employee onboarding and offboarding mechanics, keeping the machine running cleanly as Via scales.
• Own the full learning experience for Field teams: onboarding curriculum, 30/60/90‑day check‑in infrastructure, and manager touchpoint design.
• Coordinate and execute L&D programming end‑to‑end—including scheduling, vendor management, participant communications, and feedback loops.
• Support rollout of manager development programs, tracking completion and translating feedback into iteration.
• Build and maintain Via’s internal resource library: playbooks, guides, templates, and training materials that scale knowledge across the org.
• Maintain the L&D calendar and ensure training is integrated across performance cycles, launch waves, and onboarding cohorts.
• Support cross‑functional People projects in partnership with the broader team.
• Build out traditional HRBP operations with a focus on automation, identifying opportunities for AI and tooling to eliminate manual work at scale.

Qualifications

• A builder and operator: you create processes from scratch and ensure they stick.
• Energized by new markets and challenges; comfortable on a go‑live floor in an unfamiliar city and managing project plans.
• Detail‑oriented and organized without being rigid; able to hold complex initiatives together.
• Strong communicator who can quickly earn trust with new teams, managers, or compliance vendors.
• Understanding that great People work is invisible when done right and taking pride in that.
• 1‑5 years of experience in HR, People Operations, or a closely related field; experience with multi‑state compliance or new market launches is a plus.

Pay

Salary range: $70,000‑$90,000 per year. Final salary will be determined by the candidate’s experience, knowledge, and skills. Salary does not include equity or variable pay, where applicable.
