About the role

Reporting to the Area Director, the People & Culture Coordinator supports functional teams across the Area by providing administrative assistance to managers and employees on policy, payroll, recruiting, and benefits. This role processes organizational changes and executes various People & Culture initiatives. Based in Troy, MI, this onsite position offers hybrid flexibility with 4 days in the office and 1 day remote.

Responsibilities

  • Process paperwork for new hires, terminations, job changes, department changes/allocations, salary changes, and employee name changes.
  • Assist in completing WorkDay job postings, applications, and background check processing.
  • Oversee Workday timekeeping usage, including directing managers on PT/Temp policies.
  • Answer routine questions regarding benefits, payroll, and HR policies/procedures.
  • Generate and distribute HR-related reports.
  • Coordinate employee programs (e.g., Wellness) as needed.
  • Provide additional support during key HR initiatives and special projects (e.g., GPTW, HRP open enrollment, year-end planning).
  • Assist in coordinating compliance and safety updates with supporting locations.
  • Maintain employee personnel file information.
  • Audit biweekly payroll registers to ensure employee changes are complete and payroll is processed correctly.
  • Complete employee Verifications of Employment (VOEs) that can’t be completed via The Work Number.
  • Maintain and track compensation actions.

Requirements

  • Minimum Associate’s degree in Business, HR, or equivalent in a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an HR-related or similar role.

Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well-organized, self-directed, and a team player.
  • Strong bias for action, attention to detail, and ability to organize and prioritize multiple assignments to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated integrity and experience managing confidential data.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working with an enterprise HRIS and applicant tracking system (preferred).
