People Business Partner
About the role
You will serve as a dedicated People Business Partner to managers in our Marketing and G&A organizations, working closely with an Associate Director, PBP who retains senior leader support for these teams. You'll own relationships below the most senior levels, and coordinate closely with the Associate Director on talent programming, data, and cross-functional people projects.
You will embed yourself in the teams you support — learning their business deeply enough that managers see you as a true partner, not just an HR resource they call when something goes wrong. That means coaching through the full range of people management responsibilities (performance, career development, retention, disciplinary actions, succession planning), investing in manager effectiveness over time, and partnering on org design and headcount planning as the business grows.
You will guide managers and teams through an exciting period of growth and change — anticipating friction points before they arise, supporting core People processes like compensation and growth reviews, addressing performance issues early, and where needed, partnering with the Associate Director to navigate complex employee relations matters.
You will use people data to inform recommendations and bring a point of view to leaders on what it means for their teams — and partner with leaders to build career paths and broader programming that gives employees a clear and compelling future at AlphaSense.
You will work closely with global People Team partners across systems, operations, benefits, talent, and compensation, and drive inclusive practices that foster an environment where people feel valued, trusted, and heard.
Qualifications
You have 6-8+ years of progressive HR experience, including meaningful time in a dedicated People Business Partner role — you've done this work before and know how to hit the ground running.
You have experience working in a high-growth tech environment and are energized by the pace and change that comes with it — you don't just adapt, you thrive.
Preferably, you are located in the NY metro area and are able to work from our NYC office 2-3 days per week.
You are a true business partner — you embed yourself in the teams you support, learn their goals, priorities, and challenges, and show up as a peer to the business, not just an HR resource.
You are a trusted coach and advisor to managers and senior leaders up to the Sr. Director level, helping them navigate complex people situations with confidence and sound judgment.
You build rapport quickly and authentically — managers want to call you first because they know you'll give them a straight answer and actually help them solve the problem.
You are highly empathetic and build trust by being both warm and direct — people feel supported by you and also know they can count on you to tell them the truth.
You have a strong foundation in HR principles, employment law, and compliance, and bring that knowledge to bear in practical, business-minded ways.
You have a strong work ethic and a bias toward action — there is a lot happening here and you bring the energy, focus, and follow-through to keep up and add value every step of the way.
You operate with strong ethics, discretion, and sound judgment when handling sensitive and confidential matters.
You have the ability to analyze and interpret people data, using it to help business leaders better understand workforce needs and inform workforce strategy and planning.
You are proactive about change — you anticipate where it's coming, get ahead of it, and partner with leaders to develop thoughtful plans before friction sets in.
