PennDOT CDL Operator Trainee (Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee)

Description of Work

• Equipment Operation: Train to operate heavy trucks, loaders, and other equipment used for highway and bridge work
• Inspection Checks: Complete and document pre- and post-operation equipment checks and make basic adjustments
• Tool Usage: Work with hand tools and motorized tools such as shovels, rakes, chain saws, compressors, and mowers
• Safety Practices: Follow safety procedures, observe the work area, and report hazards, injuries, and equipment issues
• Environmental Tasks: Carry out environmental protection requirements related to maintenance activities

Qualifications Required

• Active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent
• Active Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver Learner's Permit on the first day of work
• Active Medical Examiner’s Certificate in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Regulations by the first day of work

Additional Information

• Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, Work hours are 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Schedule varies seasonally, due to weather, and based on operational needs.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $42,347.00 (before taxes).
