Peer Tutor - Engineering and Industrial Technologies (Temporary)

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide tutoring in assigned engineering or industrial technology course areas, reinforcing concepts taught in class.
  • Aid students in developing strong technical foundations in areas such as: Mechanical systems, Electrical systems, Robotics and automation, Mechatronics, Engineering principles, EV systems fundamentals.
  • Help students apply theoretical concepts to hands-on work.
  • Support students in improving study habits, note-taking skills, and exam preparation strategies.
  • Maintain accurate tutoring logs and student progress notes as required by IGNITE reporting standards.
  • Collaborate with IGNITE staff to ensure tutoring aligns with program goals.
  • Refer students to additional campus resources when appropriate.
  • Attend tutor training sessions, check-in meetings, and professional development workshops.
  • Model professionalism, a strong work ethic, and a supportive learning environment.

  • Associate in General Engineering Technology, including concentrations in:
    • Electric Vehicle Engineering Technology
    • Civil Engineering Technology
    • Mechanical Engineering Technology
    • Electrical Engineering Technology

  • General Engineering Technology Certificate
  • Electric Vehicle Engineering Technology Certificate
  • Industrial & Technical Training Programs
  • Industrial Mechanical Maintenance Technician
  • Industrial Electrical Maintenance Technician
  • Production Technician

Key Responsibilities

Minimum And Additional Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in a 2-year or 4-year college institution and be pursuing a degree in Engineering disciplines or Mechatronics.
  • Successful completion (grade A) of the course(s) you wish to tutor, or faculty recommendation.
  • Strong understanding of engineering and/or technical coursework.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and student success.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience helping peers or mentoring in an academic or technical environment.
  • Familiarity with hands-on lab environments and safety procedures.
