Peer Support Specialist - SSVF

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree preferred
• Must have lived experience with homelessness, military service, or recovery from substance use disorder
• Certification or training as a peer support specialist preferred
• Experience working with veterans, homeless, or at-risk populations preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to engage, motivate, and support individuals facing complex life challenges
• Proficient in basic computer skills, including data entry and Microsoft Office
• Valid Driver's License, clean driving record, and access to a registered and insured vehicle for client visits
• Mileage reimbursement provided, company vehicles available for client transport
• Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized peer support to veterans and their families, promoting recovery, self-sufficiency, and long-term housing stability
• Utilize lived experience professionally and appropriately to build trust, foster engagement, and encourage participation in services

• Assist clients in accessing community resources, including housing, healthcare, and supportive services

• Provide support during crisis situations by offering emotional support and connecting clients to emergency services and resources
