About the role

Serves as peer support for individuals in recovery from a mental health condition, substance-use disorder, or both and connects them to resources to support recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Connects individuals in recovery to resources to support their journey.
  • Provides peer support based on personal experiences of recovery.
  • Travels during the work day to provide support services.
  • Engages diverse learners through individual and group teaching, home visiting, and advocacy.
  • Uses motivational interviewing techniques to facilitate change.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED completion.
  • Valid Indiana Driver's license.
  • Proof of car insurance.
  • CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Certification of peer support for recovery within six months of employment for specific departments.

Qualifications

  • Preferably 2 years of experience working in community settings.
  • Shared experiences of those they serve.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Expertise in the community of residence.
  • Ability to engage diverse learners.
  • Skills in individual and group teaching, home visiting, and advocacy.
  • High degree of humility and respect for cultural diversity.
  • Ability to speak multiple languages (plus).
