About the role
Serves as peer support for individuals in recovery from a mental health condition, substance-use disorder, or both and connects them to resources to support recovery.
Responsibilities
- Connects individuals in recovery to resources to support their journey.
- Provides peer support based on personal experiences of recovery.
- Travels during the work day to provide support services.
- Engages diverse learners through individual and group teaching, home visiting, and advocacy.
- Uses motivational interviewing techniques to facilitate change.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED completion.
- Valid Indiana Driver's license.
- Proof of car insurance.
- CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
- Certification of peer support for recovery within six months of employment for specific departments.
Qualifications
- Preferably 2 years of experience working in community settings.
- Shared experiences of those they serve.
- Reliable transportation.
- Expertise in the community of residence.
- Ability to engage diverse learners.
- Skills in individual and group teaching, home visiting, and advocacy.
- High degree of humility and respect for cultural diversity.
- Ability to speak multiple languages (plus).
