About the role

Provides peer support and recovery training to individuals receiving services. Acts as an advocate for patient needs and rights, offers empathic listening, engagement, and support, and ensures a recovery-oriented environment. Also handles indirect unit support related to supplies and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides peer support to engage individuals in a recovery partnership and assists in identifying participant’s hopes, dreams, and solutions.
  • Teaches recovery and life skills using recovery tools.
  • Models hope, personal responsibility, and self-advocacy to demonstrate how recovery goals can be respectfully met.
  • Assists in developing natural supports and community living.
  • Cultivates connectedness in the person’s life (self, others, environment, meaning, and purpose).
  • Coordinates with the individual’s clinical team and other supports to arrange services or resources to help achieve goals.
  • Completes clinical documentation as required.
  • Understands and adheres to the organization’s compliance standards (Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policies).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (required).
  • Lived experience with mental health and/or substance use challenges (required).
  • Healthcare student or comparable work experience in a healthcare environment (preferred).
  • Minimum of 18 years of age (required).

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communication and behavioral management skills that promote safety.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve and document per regulatory guidelines.
  • Effective communication skills.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certification as a Peer Support Specialist within 180 days (required).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association upon hire (required).
  • Safety-Care Specialist within 60 days (required).

Schedule

Overnights: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM.
