About the role

White House Clinics provides comprehensive care for patients with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) through a multi-disciplinary team approach. The Peer Support Specialist (PSS) plays a crucial role in supporting patients' recovery journeys by leveraging their own lived experience in recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with patients during medical and/or behavioral health visits to enhance engagement with SUD treatment services.
  • Work with care teams to motivate patients, offer referrals, and schedule appointments as needed.
  • Maintain contact with patients awaiting SUD treatment services via telephone.
  • Develop and implement Person-Centered Recovery Plans for patients, focusing on their strengths, challenges, and recovery goals.
  • Remind patients of upcoming appointments and address barriers to attendance.
  • Follow up with patients who miss appointments and promote personal accountability.
  • Identify and promote community recovery support meetings and attend these meetings to model positive behavior.
  • Provide transportation to meetings when needed and encourage participation in community recovery programs.
  • Utilize a Telephone Recovery Program to provide 24-hour support to patients at risk of relapse.
  • Communicate regularly with the care team about patient progress and needs.
  • Assist the care team in developing action plans specific to each patient's needs.
  • Participate in required supervision meetings with an LCSW or the Director of Behavioral Health Services.

Requirements

  • Completed requirements to become a Kentucky Certified Peer Support Specialist.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle.
  • Must adhere to organizational protocols and continue education requirements.
  • Must have been in stable recovery for at least two years.
  • Must have a commitment to helping individuals in recovery and hold values consistent with MAT services.
  • Must possess strong problem-solving skills, initiative, and a professional demeanor.
  • Maintain healthy boundaries with patients and adhere to ethical guidelines.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Commitment to helping individuals in recovery and holding values consistent with MAT services.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to tasks.
  • Pleasant personality and a professional demeanor that facilitates collaboration.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with organizational policies.
  • Knowledge of relevant protocols and willingness to stay current on updates.

Schedule

The Peer Support Specialist works 37.5 hours per week, with evening and weekend work required. Evening and weekend shifts may be necessary to accommodate patients' needs.

Pay

$15.04 - $23.68 per hour
