Key Responsibilities
- Engage with individuals in the community who are experiencing mental health challenges, offering peer support and encouragement in a non-judgmental manner.
- Establish trusting and supportive relationships with clients, serving as a role model and mentor in their recovery journey.
- Provide one-on-one peer support sessions, facilitating discussions, and sharing personal experiences to offer hope, empathy, and validation.
- Aid clients in identifying their strengths, goals, and values, and support them in developing personalized recovery plans.
- Collaborate with other members of the Community Outreach Team to connect clients with appropriate resources, including mental health services, housing assistance, employment opportunities, and social support networks.
- Advocate on behalf of clients to ensure their voices are heard and their needs are addressed within the community and service systems.
- Lead or co-facilitate community events focused on mental health education, self-care, and peer support.
Skills/Requirements
- Highschool diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 1-year experience in the behavioral health field.
- 1 or more consecutive years in recovery from Alcohol or Drugs and/or GMH is preferred.
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current AZ Driver's License valid and in good standing.
- Clear 39-month Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Certified Peer Support (PSS) in accordance with A.A.C. R9-10-101.33 and Sanctuary Recovery Centers Policies and Procedures.
Benefits
Salary: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
