About the role
The Peer Support Specialist (PSS) promotes consumer engagement in therapy with clinicians, involvement and engagement with wellness services and recovery support, and engagement with primary care; conducts rapid screening for communicable disease, completes all tracking and reporting requirements for outcomes and evaluation and documents services provided; and assists clients in a variety of ways – sharing of personal recovery stories, resource acquisition, etc.Responsibilities
- Conducts rapid screening for communicable disease
- Completes all tracking and reporting requirements for outcomes and evaluation
- Documents services provided
- Assists clients in a variety of ways – sharing of personal recovery stories, resource acquisition, etc.
- Works directly with the Opioid Treatment Programming staff and CHC Treatment providers to ensure continuity of care
- Engages in a team approach in the provision of services with treatment providers, and support services
Requirements
- Diploma/Equivalent or higher, combined with knowledge of wellness and recovery-based concepts
- Lived experiences with mental health and/or substance use disorders and at least 18 months of recovery
- Completed or willing to complete the Peer Support Specialist Certification Program
