Peer Specialist Part-time
About the role
The Peer Specialist functions as a member of a multidisciplinary team to provide peer support, advocacy, coaching, mentoring, behavior modeling, assistance, and guidance for clients. Promote positive and collaborative relations with team members and the community.
Responsibilities
- Provide peer support, advocacy, coaching, mentoring, behavior modeling, assistance, and guidance for clients.
- Promote positive and collaborative relations with team members and the community.
- Attend available training to increase skills specific to mental health and substance abuse populations.
- Actively participate and contribute in staff meetings, supervision, quality reviews, and monitoring activities.
- Maintain positive, timely, and effective communication with patients, families, team members, external and internal resource providers, referral sources, and community providers.
Requirements
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
- Lived an experience in at least one of the following areas:
- As an adult who has been in recovery for a minimum of two (2) years from a substance use or mental health condition.
- As a family member or caregiver to another individual who has or is in recovery from substance use or mental health condition.
- As a veteran of the armed forces who has been in recovery for a minimum of two (2) years from a substance use or mental health condition.
- Preferred to have completed certified peer specialist training and/or be willing to complete as a condition of employment.
- Must be able to use a computer.
- Must be able to pass organization screening requirements, including state or federal background screenings as appropriate.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license from the state in which you reside, a good driving record and be insurable under the corporate policy.
