About the role
Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) is seeking a Peer Specialist to join our Detox/Withdrawal Management team. The role involves 24/7 care in a 30-bed social model detox clinic for individuals experiencing acute intoxication or withdrawal. The ideal candidate is someone with lived experience who can offer support, advocacy, and guidance.
Responsibilities
- Support clients in articulating personal goals for recovery through one-to-one meetings and group sessions.
- Assist clients in identifying and creating goals and developing recovery plans with the skills, strengths, supports, and resources to aid them in achieving those goals.
- Maintain accurate data by outreaching clients and meeting with them one-to-one to ensure all forms are up-to-date and entered in the organization's electronic health record.
- Assist clients in obtaining services that suit their recovery needs by providing community resources and groups.
- Monitor and coordinate care for assigned clients in partnership with the other members of the clients' care team.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED.
- Lived experience with behavioral health concerns.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain one within 30 days of hire.
- Completion of a Clinical Peer Specialist or Peer Coach training course within six (6) months of hire.

Pay
$20.04 to $30.05 hourly. Shift Differential Pay applies.
Schedule
- This position is fully Onsite/In-person.
- Wednesday - Saturday 10:00 am - 8:30 pm.
- Day weekend shift differential is paid from 7 am to 3 pm on Saturdays and Sundays only.
- Swing week day shift differential is paid from 3 pm to 11 pm.
- Overnight shift differential is paid from 11 pm - 7 am.
