About the role
This position assists clients and their families in their recovery journey through the lens of lived experience and specialized training. The role integrates physical health and behavioral health care, addiction treatment, and social services.
Responsibilities
- Provide integrated services that are welcoming, engaging, and accessible, addressing physical health care, behavioral healthcare, and social needs that are recovery focused, strengths based, culturally competent, client centered, trauma informed, and co-occurring capable.
- Promote a warm and engaging organizational culture aligned with NorthCare values, trauma-informed care, and health and wellness.
- Demonstrate strong understanding of peer recovery and wellness coach practices, supporting clients with complex needs using evidence-based interventions including wellness resources and peer support curriculum.
- Achieve productivity guidelines as outlined by the outpatient management team.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED, with a preference for 60+ hours of higher education degree.
- Knowledge in mental health recovery and wellness, and experience as a consumer of mental health services.
- ODMHSAS Peer Recovery Support Specialist certification within 60 days of hire, and annual continuing education requirements to maintain certification.
- ODMHSAS Wellness Coach Certification within 60 days of hire, and annual continuing education requirements to maintain certification.
- Certification as a WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan) facilitator preferred.
- One (1) year experience required in a community mental health or mental health related field.
- Must have intermediate general computer skills and proficiency in MS Word processing software.
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must have reliable transportation and access to an internet hotspot for field work.
- Must have valid Oklahoma driver’s license and current automobile liability insurance, including uninsured motorist coverage.
- Must have and maintain CPR, First Aid, and Therapeutic Options certifications, or obtain within 30 days of employment.
- Must have and/or complete Co-Occurring Training and Trauma Informed Training within 60 days of employment.
- Must have a TB test within 12 months prior to employment, or obtain within 30 days of employment.
Qualifications
The candidate/employee must meet the ODMHSAS criteria for Peer Recovery Support Specialist, which includes a high school diploma or GED, 60+ hours of higher education degree, knowledge in mental health recovery and wellness, and experience as a consumer of mental health services. They must also obtain the required certifications and complete annual continuing education requirements to maintain them.
