Peer Recovery Specialist | Mental Health

About the role

We are seeking a Peer Recovery Specialist to work closely with the Center Manager, Wellness Mentors, and members to support the operations of a Wellness Center. They will foster a welcoming, recovery-focused environment by engaging members, helping them achieve their wellness and recovery goals, and addressing community needs.

Responsibilities

• Serving as a positive role model and mentor to empower members in self-advocacy and service coordination.
• Assisting members in setting and pursuing personalized recovery and wellness objectives through individual and group interactions.
• Providing information and referrals related to wellness, recovery, peer support, and community resources.
• Supporting the development and expansion of community-based services and partnerships to meet member needs.

Qualifications and Skills

• Must possess Peer Certification.
• High School diploma or GED.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office and general computer literacy.
• Knowledge of mental health, recovery, and community resources.
• Ability to build positive relationships with individuals experiencing mental health or substance use challenges.
• Experience sharing personal recovery stories appropriately is a plus.
• Valid NJ Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
• Lived experience with mental health or substance use issues is highly valued.
